Courses Outcomes 2019-2020

A. Program Outcomes :

Undergraduate (UG) Program : Three year annual and Semesterized system existing at present. Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been introduced for the semester based programs since July 2018 for Arts and Science and since July 2017 for Commerce. Students earn the Graduate (Bachelor's) degree after clearing all the three year exams (Part-I, Part II and Part III) and qualify for further progress to Masters Degree programs.

Postgraduate (PG) program : Our institution conducts two year regular post graduate program in Bengali since July 2016. As an affiliated college under the University of Calcutta, the degree is been awarded by the University while admission and exam related matters are conducted by the institution centers. The Seven-member Board of studies (BoS) however has two nominated members from the parent university, two outside members and full time faculty of the subject as internal members. Head of the Institution is the Chairperson of the BOS. From 2018 onwards, CBCS has been introduced in the Master's program as well and admission is conducted through centralized online system by the university. Students who clear the semester exams (four exams over a span of two years) get the Master's degree n Arts and are eligible for competitive exams like NET/SET/GATE/JEM or can pursue doctoral research programs without scholarship in any private or public universities/institutes as per UGC guidelines.

Postgraduate (PG) program through Distance mode : Our institution also conducts PG program under Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) affiliated to Vidyasagar University since 2008. The Master's program is offered in subjects like Bengali, History, English, Sanskrit, Political Science, Geography and Environmental Science. Though the institution is the center of study for all the above mentioned subjects on week ends, theoretical and practical examinations are conducted by the university at away centers for the students. Approximately 200 students pursue Higher education through Distance mode.


B. Program specific outcomes :

Faculty of Arts : Three year annual and Semesterized system existing at present. Choice Based Credit System(CBCS) has been introduced for the semester based programs since July 2018. Students earn the Graduate (Bachelor's) degree after clearing all the three year exams (Part-I, Part II and Part III) and qualify for further progress to Masters Degree programs. Journalism and Mass communication as BA general subject was introduced in 2019.

Faculty of Science : Three year annual and Semesterized system existing at present. Choice Based Credit System(CBCS) has been introduced for the semester based programs since July 2018. Students earn the Graduate (Bachelor's) degree after clearing all the three year exams (Part-I, Part II and Part III) and qualify for further progress to Masters Degree (M.SC) programs. Microbiology as General subject was introduced in July 2019.

Faculty of Commerce : Three year annual and Semesterized system existing at present. Choice Based Credit System(CBCS) has been introduced for the semester based programs since July 2017. Students earn the Graduate (Bachelor's) degree after clearing all the three year exams (Part-I, Part II and Part III) and qualify for further progress to Masters Degree (M.Com) programs. Also become eligible for costing and Management programs.

Students after graduation from three streams can pursue higher education in Master's degree either through distance, open or regular courses.
The students in the three streams of Arts, Science and Commerce can enroll either in Honours or General programs. All these programs are of three year duration and the students can qualify either as Honours Graduate or Plain Graduate. All qualified graduate students can pursue Master's degree program either through regular, distance or open modes of education. However students who qualify without Honours cannot enroll themselves in regular Master Programs conducted by Universities and in some Autonomous/ Affiliated colleges.
