History of the department -
The department had started its journey in 2005-2006 conducting only B.A General course in Geography .Honours course in Geography commenced from 2007 with some basic facilities. Initially the intake capacity was only 25 students. Since 2014 it has increased to 56 students. Number of faculties have moved to 6 and basic facilities have witnessed significant improvements.
Specialty of the department -
The department has not only shown progress in the course structure but also thrived to strike proper balance with its curriculum to make the subject interesting and absorbing for the aspiring students. Considering the indispensable need of modern day studies the department has prioritised the use of global positioning system, satellite images, and several other modern means in imparting knowledge to students.At the same time the education focuses on ground knowledge through field work and excursion along with proper library, classroom, computer laboratory to help students derive and record the true findings that can serve their purpose.

The department provides exposure to students by arranging visits to several Govt. organizations to get hands-on experience. Emphasizes on onducting workshops, online courses for several certification programmes along with attending the lectures of experts.
